As Michelle Pennings concludes her fourth year as President of the Professional Photographers of San Diego County this December, her legacy of leadership, artistry, and heart-centered vision continues to inspire. Known for her motto—“Love people through photography”—Michelle has led PPSDC with the same warmth and creativity that define her work behind the camera.

Michelle is the creative mind behind two thriving photography brands: My Photo San Diego and Designs by Chelle. Through My Photo San Diego, she serves schools, sports teams, and student communities throughout San Diego County, creating images that celebrate achievement and spirit. Through Designs by Chelle, she explores fine art and underwater portraiture—crafting breathtaking, imaginative works that reveal grace, strength, and beauty in every subject.

Her artistry has earned her top honors, including Best in Show at the San Diego County Fair International Exhibition of Photography, where her work stood out for its creative excellence and emotional depth.

Professionally, Michelle’s credentials are equally remarkable. She holds the Master of Photography and Master Craftsman of Photography degrees from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and is a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP). She is also certified through PPC Judges Training, has completed PPA Judges Training, and is currently in her final sessions for Merit-in-Review Judges Training—a testament to her commitment to lifelong learning and the advancement of professional standards.

During her presidency, Michelle has fostered connection, collaboration, and education within PPSDC. Her leadership has expanded programs, strengthened community ties, and reignited the joy of creative growth among members. Whether mentoring new photographers, moderating image competitions, or leading workshops, Michelle has consistently encouraged others to pursue both technical mastery and human connection through their work.

Outside of PPSDC, Michelle balances her multifaceted photography career with family life and a genuine love for community. She is known for her kindness, her contagious enthusiasm, and her belief that photography is more than an image—it’s a way of honoring the people in front of the lens.

As she prepares to close her term as president, PPSDC celebrates Michelle Pennings for her artistry, mentorship, and steadfast leadership. Her work and example remind us that at its best, photography is an act of love, a bridge of understanding, and a legacy that endures.
